The property already has internet somewhere: the lodge, the office, the house. The Pine Base Station plugs into it and broadcasts Pine’s dedicated long-range network across the whole site, reaching every Space long after ordinary wifi has given out a few hundred feet from the router.

Every Space arrives fully instrumented.

No sensor package to add and no upgrade tier. Every Space is built with the same connected hardware and its own onboard controller, so it keeps running locally even when the link to the Pine Base Station drops. Here is each piece, and what it is actually for.

Access

Smart lock and keypad

Every booking gets its own door code, issued from the reservation and revoked at checkout. Guests let themselves in without a handoff, a lockbox, or a key to lose. The lock and its keypad keep working at the door even if the connection drops.

  • A code per stay. Created from the booking, expires the moment the stay ends.
  • Works at the door. Unlocks locally, with no cloud round trip to wait on.
  • No handoff. No key exchange and no meeting a guest on arrival.

Presence

Motion and occupancy sensors

Doors and presence report in, so arrivals, departures, and turnovers are visible without anyone standing there. When a Space with no active reservation sees repeated motion, it surfaces as an alert you can acknowledge, not a call from a neighbor.

  • Arrivals and departures. The property knows when a Space is entered and left.
  • Vacant-space alerts. Motion with no booking flags itself, with a time-stamped record.
  • Cleaner turnovers. See what is occupied, vacant, and ready without a drive-out.

Safety

Smoke and CO alarms

The smoke and CO alarms are self-sounding life-safety devices. They sound in the Space the instant they trip, on their own, independent of the network, the Pine Base Station, and the cloud. The same event also reports in, so a problem in a Space no one is standing in is never missed because no one was on the property.

  • Sounds on its own. The siren does not depend on Pine being online to go off.
  • Reports in too. The event reaches the property record the moment it happens.
  • Never less safe offline. Life safety works whether or not the connection is up.

Comfort

Connected thermostat and climate

A connected thermostat in every Space lets you set and read the temperature from anywhere, rather than at a wall dial in the cold. Pre-warm before an arrival so the first impression is a comfortable room, and hold a protective setpoint between stays. Like the lock, it keeps working at the wall even when the connection is down.

  • Set from anywhere. Adjust or schedule a Space around the booking calendar.
  • Ready for arrival. Warm or cool the room before the guest opens the door.
  • Safe between stays. Hold a setpoint so nothing freezes when a Space sits empty.

Water

Fresh, grey, and black tank monitoring

Because a Pine space carries its own water on board, it is built so every tank reports its level rather than leaving you to guess. A tank flags itself as it nears full, so a pump-out is scheduled on the next planned trip instead of discovered at capacity on a holiday weekend.

Energy and solar monitoring

Where a Space runs on solar, it is built to report production, draw, and battery state, so off-grid power is a number on a screen rather than a guess. See what is charging, what is drawing, and how much headroom is left before anything becomes a problem.

The monitoring is not a project you take on after delivery. Every lock, sensor, and monitor is mounted, connected, and checked before the Space leaves the line. On the property, you place one Pine Base Station and the Space finds it. That is the install.

What operators ask about the network.

Do we need internet at the property?
Yes, at one place. The Pine Base Station connects to the internet you already have at the property, whether that is the lodge, the office, or the house, by Ethernet or over wifi. From there it extends Pine’s dedicated long-range network out to the Spaces. What the Spaces themselves do not need is their own wifi, a cellular plan, or a wired run.
Does each Space need its own wifi or cellular?
No. Each Space joins the Pine Base Station over Pine’s dedicated long-range network. There is no wifi router at the Space, no cellular plan, and no cabling run out to it. The Space stays on the property view whether or not there is any internet at the Space itself.
How far does one Pine Base Station reach?
A single Pine Base Station is designed to cover an entire property, well beyond where ordinary wifi gives out at a few hundred feet. Range depends on terrain and layout, but the intent is one Pine Base Station for the whole site rather than a device or a wifi run at every Space.
What happens if the internet or power goes out?
The Space is local-first. Each Space has its own onboard controller, so the smart lock and its keypad codes, the connected thermostat, the smoke and CO alarms, and the local sensors all keep working on their own when the link to the Pine Base Station or the internet is down. Events are held at the Space and report back in the moment the connection returns. Nothing depends on a live cloud connection to keep the Space safe and operable.
Is any of this optional or an upgrade package?
No. The monitoring hardware is standard in every Pine space, built in and tested at the factory. There is no sensor package to add and no install crew to schedule. The only recurring choice is the Innkeeper software subscription on top of it.
Do we have to install or configure the hardware?
No. Each Space arrives wired, paired, and tested. On the property, the Pine Base Station is the one piece of setup, and every Space finds it automatically. There is no per-device configuration on your end.
Where does all of this data go?
Into Innkeeper, the operator’s view of the property. The hardware produces the signal, and Innkeeper turns it into one live screen: space status, tank levels, smart access, alerts, and a record of every stay, readable from anywhere.
